Polymer Type Thermoplastic Advantages Cheap, good chemical resistance. High impact strength at low temperatures. Excellent electrical properties. Can be processed by all conventional methods. Can be transparent in thin film form. Disadvantages Low strength, stiffness and maximum operating temperature. Flammable. Poor UV resistance. High gas permeability ( particularly CO2 ). Susceptible to environmental stress cracking.
